Job Title: Food Program Coordinator
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This is a shared position between the Boys and Girls Club of Yukon and the Food Bank Society of Whitehorse. This position will report to the Boys and Girls Club of Yukon Operations Director and the Whitehorse Food Bank Manager of Community and Volunteer Services. This position focuses on Food Security and is a full time six month contract with option to renew. The incumbent will be responsible for shift and team supervision, youth, food, and garden engagement and coordinates community food distribution. This role is all about supporting the connection between food and humans.
Position Details
Start/End Date: 37.5hr/week for Six Months ending Nov 30 2022. This is a contract position which will have an option to extend.
Wage Range: $21.50/hour – $23/hr
Position Location: 306 Alexander Street, Whitehorse, YT
JOB DESCRIPTION
BGC Yukon Responsibilities:
- Interact with Youth aged 12-18 and visitors to the centre in a positive and welcoming manner.
- Work with and report to the Operations Director
- Coordinate food program planning and implementation.
- Coordinate all food programing for staff and volunteers.
- Oversee communications with clients, Communities and organizations connected to the food programs.
- Support with daily food and food space health and safety.
- Ensure safety and security by communication with staff members.
- Support seniors, volunteers, staff, youth and interns in garden and food growing programs.
- Implement and maintain BGC Yukon’s garden boxes.
- Support maintenance, organization, cleanliness and up-keep of BGCY food program areas, including the commercial Kitchen.
- Track and communicate all food program data, statistics and mandatory reporting.
- Assist and supervise distribution shifts as required
- Work with and report to the Manager of Volunteer and Community Services
- Work with staff, and all volunteers
- Accurately report and submit time sheet to the Executive Director as outlined in the pay period schedule
- Assist in the recruitment, interview, and training of volunteers.
- Facilitate clear communication between all staff and volunteers
- Proactively build and maintain volunteer relationships
- Maintain general upkeep of the Whitehorse site and conduct regular office duties as required.
Any other duties as requested. - Ensures that BGCY and Whitehorse Foodbank program standards, guidelines and policies are followed, and that programs align to organisations Mission, Vision, Values and strategic direction;
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of program development and delivery, as per BGCY and Food Bank policy and procedure;
- Attends scheduled staff meetings and training sessions;
- Keeps informed and has a general awareness of Food Bank and BGCY programs and services;
- Current Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector);
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate;
- Valid Foodsafe Level 1 Certificate (or must be attained within first 3 months of work);
- One year of experience in providing programs for youth in a social, recreational or similar environment (asset);
- Demonstrated teamwork skills;
- Excellent oral, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills;
