UBER Jobs In Ontario, Canada Full Job Description

We believe the most successful consumer technology companies are forward-thinking storytellers who ensure that their products – as well as the benefits of these products – are central to every communication. Our team is responsible for telling Uber’s story to a wide range of media and external audiences across Canada. We are searching for a communications manager to join our public affairs team, reporting to our Head of Public Policy & Communications for Canada. In this capacity, you will:

Establish Uber’s brand and profile with the media and third parties in Canada, telling the local story around our ridesharing and food delivery services, as well as our engineering and self-driving research teams
Tell our story in creative, inspiring ways that resonate with journalists and their audiences
Be a great partner with reporters and other external figures across Canada
Define strategic narratives that support change and bringing them to life for employees through creative communications activities
Partner closely with local Marketing, Operations and Engineering teams to help amplify the important work that they do
Manage external agencies

Basic Qualifications

An experienced spokesperson: Strong media relations experience and expertise crafting a story and delivering it in a compelling way
A proven track record with at least 8+ years experience in communications, PR or journalism — either for a company, a third party or in government — as well as experience working firsthand with executives
Excellent understanding of the media industry and extensive network of relationships with media and influencers across Canada is a must
Preferred Qualifications
French language skills an asset
Experience in corporate, product, internal and crisis communications is an advantage; as is prior experience operating in a hyper-growth technology or start up organization
A self starter – Uber is a company of entrepreneurs, and we want to work with people who thrive building things from the bottom up; stuff changes fast in our world so you’ll need to be highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure
A phenomenal advocate – We want people who can distill complex ideas into simple, but intellectually credible, arguments; you have the creative ability to tell stories–about our product, people and the ways we’re helping to improve life for passengers, drivers and cities
A great teammate – We’re looking for people who enjoy working with others to get stuff done–and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally
