Job Description:

About the role:

The Service Representative is responsible for servicing an in-force block of business as well as participating in the acquisition and installation of new business.

This position is also expected to participate in project related activities to support region goals.

What will you do?

  • Provide day-to-day support and customer service to our Plan Administrators.
  • Understand client wants and needs and take action to meet client needs.
  • Arrange service calls with clients and meet face-to-face to discuss and promote Sun Life offerings and build positive client relationships.
  • Train and educate Plan Administrators, Plan Members and Advisors on our E-Services and Administrative Practices.
  • Prepare for and facilitate employee presentations, meetings and benefit fairs.
  • Prepare revisions for plan design changes and implement new plan design changes.
  • Manage target dates with clients and Advisors with respect to plan design changes.
  • Participate in finalist presentations.
  • Work closely with Implementation Team and new clients during the implementation process to successfully install new business.
  • Build strong working relationships with other business and operational areas of Group Benefits.
  • Share ideas with team members that could improve service delivery and processes.

What you need to succeed?

  • Post- secondary education and a minimum of 5 years group insurance experience.
  • PC skills and knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, & Word
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Group Benefits products and services.
  • High Level understanding of the new sale and renewal process.
  • Acquiring Leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work independently.

Preferred skills:

  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Experience in project management.

Unique Requirements:

  • Driving is required: a valid driver’s licence and access to a car are essential.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
