      • Are you interested in housing issues and policies affecting market housing, residential and commercial tenancies and surplus government lands in Ontario? Do you enjoy problem-solving, stakeholder liaison and strategic policy development and coordination?

        Then bring your strong policy development, research and stakeholder management skills to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in support of strategic housing policy initiatives and programs.

        What can I expect to do in this role?

        Working as part of the Market Housing Policy Branch team, you will:

        • Lead and/or participate in developing policy, programs and legislation/regulations in support of the government’s market housing initiatives and the use and disposition of government surplus lands
        • Undertake highly technical research, economic and evaluation studies
        • Liaise with ministry and external stakeholders to consult, evaluate and respond to issues
        • Provide advice and input to support government communications and decision-making

        How do I qualify?

        Policy Development and Issues Management Skills

        • You have demonstrated skills and experience developing policies, legislation and regulations.
        • You have the ability to provide input to policy and program development and implementation.
        • You have knowledge of decision-making process and accountability frameworks to monitor, evaluate and interpret policy and program related issues.
        • You have good judgment and tact to recommend strategic directions and approaches to issue resolution, research, develop and formulate policy options, analyses and submissions to Cabinet, the policy committee and Treasury Board/Management Board of Cabinet

        Technical Knowledge and Stakeholder Management Skills:

        • You have knowledge of key government commitments related to emerging housing issues
        • You are able to interpret and apply relevant programs, policies, legislation and regulations impacting Ontario’s ownership and housing market, and the use and disposition of government surplus lands to support housing and social policy objectives
        • You have knowledge of key stakeholder positions and issues, and the ability to work collaboratively and develop productive relationships with inter-ministerial partners/stakeholders

        Communication, Consultation and Presentation Skills:

        • You can prepare complex policy and program proposals, briefing notes, correspondence and reports, and business cases
        • You have the ability to use strong advisory and negotiation skills to provide advice to management, build consensus and present/convey complex issues to Senior Management and stakeholders
        • You have knowledge of consultation and communications principles, methods, strategies and issues to lead/participate in consultations

        Research, Analytical and Project Management Skills

        • You have demonstrated ability in designing, developing and planning a range of qualitative and quantitative research approaches
        • You have the ability to evaluate and monitor the financial and economic analysis and assessment of a broad range of issues
        • You have proven project management skills to provide leadership in project teams, manage scope and timelines, address conflicting priorities and deadlines and track deliverables
        • You have demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and structure projects of varying size and sensitivity

        Computer Skills
