Student Recruitment Officer

Description of Duties

Luther College at the University of Regina ( invites applications for a 13-month term position (May 2022 to June 2023) in the role of Student Recruitment Officer. Reporting to the Manager of Recruitment, this position is responsible for student recruitment, special events, administrative tasks, and committee work. The successful candidate will be comfortable with travel, public speaking, and capable of complex schedule management. This position will include domestic travel, with the possibility of some international travel to the United States.


  • Attendance at on-and-off campus events to recruit prospective students and residents through a broad range of activities including, but not limited to, education and career fairs, school/community events, University of Regina events, and other prospective student events. This will include significant time travelling by car, including winter driving.
  • Provide multiple presentations throughout the year that engage and attract students to the University of Regina and its federated colleges, including the academic and residence programs.
  • Meet with domestic undergraduate students to discuss program options and the admission process. Host students and student groups for campus tours, including The Student Village. Develop and maintain relationships with prospective students, families, schools, University departments, and counsellors.
  • Special event planning and implementation, including logistical arrangements, including UPrep, orientation, and welcome weekend, etc.
  • Work closely with the Residence Recruitment Coordinator to ensure all prospects and leads are promptly tracked and developed.
  • Reporting and administration including data collection, formatting, and analysis.
  • Effective management and prioritization of correspondence and edit/compose key professional communications without error.
  • Responding to phone and email inquiries; maintain a filing system that ensures confidential handling of student documents; locate, maintain, and provide information on policies and procedures as they relate to admissions.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and diversity programming development in relation to the Luther College Strategic Plan.
  • Participate in review/planning discussions for the unit and assist with implementation of subsequent recommendations.
  • Participate on various committees.
  • Providing superior customer service to prospective students and all key stakeholders throughout the enrolment process.
  • Other duties as required.


  • Completion of an undergraduate degree. Preference will be given to alumni of Luther College at the University of Regina.
  • One year of prior work experience, preferably in post-secondary education. Knowledge of higher education practices, including the University of Regina faculties, programs, and services will be considered an asset.
  • Comfortable travelling multiple times per month, including overnight stays, and working outside normal operating hours.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain its eligibility, and meet auto-leasing drivers’ requirements.
  • Proven Microsoft Office application skills including advanced skill in Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfort working within various databases and reporting systems.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), time management, punctuality, and interpersonal skills. Experience managing and organizing a complex calendar, including multiple priorities within a fast-paced and constantly changing environment would be an asset.
  • Ability to work productively as both part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments with accuracy and a high attention to detail.
  • Must be able to carry, lift, and set up small and large display units, audio-visual equipment, and deliver boxes of promotional material.
  • Affinity with the goals of Luther College and the small college environment in which flexibility, warmth, and cordiality are necessary and valued.


  • Is routinely in contact with prospective students and parents.
  • Is routinely in contact with recruiters from the University of Regina, Campion College, and First Nations University of Canada.
  • Maintains working relationships with all operational areas of the College including the Manager of Recruitment, Academic Dean, Academic Office, faculty, and staff.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time position with hours of work normally totaling 35 hours per week; however, irregular, and extended hours are required from time to time due to travel and special events, including evenings and weekends.
  • This work includes a large amount of travel, including overnight stays away. Some work is performed in an office environment.

Salary Range
