Regulatory Requirements
- Develop nutrient and ingredient labelling information in compliance with governing bodies and regulatory agencies. This includes:
- Obtaining, reviewing, approving and maintaining all ingredient specifications and supplier certifications
- Generating, collecting, validating and issuing Nutrition Facts Tables and ingredient lists
- Issuing allergen/intolerance information and other required information for nutrition labelling including dietary restrictions
- Reviewing and approving all food, nutrition and ingredient claims on the App, website, and other promotional materials
- Contributing to the development of company nutrition and regulatory policies, including cooking and rethermalization equipment
- Responding to Health Canada and CFIA on regulatory and policy amendments/changes and implementing them accordingly
- Building trust in KitchenMate brand, values, and meals by providing support to answer consumer, sales and marketing nutrition, ingredient, and allergen inquiries
Food Safety
- Developing, maintaining and executing Quality and Food Safety related SOPs including:
- Performance standards for all aspects of food production & cold chain delivery
- Safety certifications related to Smart Cooker, Smart Fridge, and delivery
- Food recalls
- Understanding applicable industry best practices in the US and Canada (ex. HACCP, SQF, FDA, FSMA, CFIA meat processing)
You should have:
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to be self-directed and manage complex projects end-to-end
- Excellent knowledge and application of food safety, food labelling and advertising regulations in Canada, and experience with food formulations and ingredient specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and research abilities
- Sound judgment
- Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills and comfort working in an interdisciplinary team including culinary, sales and marketing, customer success and engineering
You should be:
- Passionate about learning and continuous improvement – you will have the unique ability to influence how our hardware and software gets built
- Highly organized & extremely detail-oriented
- Unafraid to share ideas and problems that you believe need to be solved
- Willing to learn from a diverse team of culinary professionals, business operators, hardware engineers and software engineers
- Knowledgeable / quickly able to learn with computer technologies (Google Docs / Sheets / Slides, Email, Slack)
- Up to date on the latest nutritional science findings and industry trends to advise and provide support to R&D, Marketing and Sales as they develop content to market/sell to customers
Qualifications:
- Bachelor in Nutrition, Food Science, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Foodservice or Consumer Products Goods industry in Canada
