Position Description: Clark Builders is hiring a Compensation Specialist to join our team. This role will manage various aspects of the compensation program, including plan design, analysis, budgeting, and administration for all employee populations – executives, salaried exempt staff, and hourly nonexempt trade employees. If you have knack for analysis and reporting, and want to join a growing HR team, this is the position for you.
Reports to: Human Resources Director
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Director and senior leadership on compensation program, plans and policies to ensure compliance
  • Serve as primary point-of-contact with external compensation and related systems vendors, providers and consultants and relevant government agencies
  • Data analysis, reporting and technical support to establish and maintain standardization and consistency, ensure data integrity, and proactively support company objectives and HR strategy, programs, policies and procedures
  • Monitor effectiveness of existing compensation structure, policies, guidelines and procedures, recommending plan revisions consistent with compensation trends and company objectives; coordinate implementation and provide guidance to staff
  • Keep apprised of national, provincial and local compensation laws and regulations and ensure company compliance
  • Perform job description analyses for compensation, organizational comparisons and internal and external equity
  • Participate in market and industry salary surveys and conduct analysis of exempt and nonexempt compensation to ensure company compensation objectives are met
  • Lead administration of the Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP) including annual offering, dispositions, key contact for account managers and employees.
  • Develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work with HRIS and payroll staff to ensure HCM system meets compensation needs and is updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, etc. Provide technical data-handling support
  • Assist with development and administration of various aspects of staff and executive compensation, including salary, annual Short-term Incentive Plan (STIP) bonus program, annual salary review and Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP) awards
  • Manage union and nonunion trade employee compensation plans
  • Maintain and monitor Total Rewards Statement, Total Rewards platform, and online reporting
  • Develop compensation packages and relocation arrangements for employees, working with Talent Acquisition and leadership as key contributor to Clark’s recruiting and internal mobility efforts
  • Proactively audit internal and external data transmissions and conduct various daily, weekly, biweekly and quarterly audits utilizing reporting and BI tools to ensure integrity of HCM and payroll data, minimize impact on downstream processes, transactions and analysis and support internal and external auditors.
  • Use various forms of HR data analysis to recommend process improvements and revised quality standards
  • Advise HR and operational managers on compensation-related issues
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of progressive compensation and programs experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate and present findings with all levels within the organization
  • Self-starter and have strong management and leadership skills, and be capable of managing projects and tasks successfully to completion
  • Construction industry experience is an asset
  • Experience in administration of Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP) is an asset.
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Advanced Certified Compensation Professional (ACCP) – Canada is an asset
