POSITION Early Years Program Manager: Learning Tree Early Years Centre

Start Date: ASAP

Starting Wage: $19.82-$31.01 (dependant on CCSU Level Designation)

Schedule: Monday to Friday – 37.5 hrs/week

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This Position reports directly to the Early Years Program Director. The incumbent is directly responsible for the following staff: Early Childhood Educators, Auxiliary On-Call Workers, and facilitators and contractors in relation to the Learning Tree Centre program. The incumbent is also responsible for relating program volunteers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The BGCY has a history of providing children and youth with programs and activities designed to encourage the growth of developmental assets. The Learning Tree Centre program engages children 18 months-5 years through meaningful, integrated programming that provides them with long term positive outcomes.

Reporting to the Early Years Program Director (EYPD), the Early Years Program Coordinator (EYPM) is responsible for oversight of program planning and implementation. As well as adherence to all regulatory and Organizational standards. The EYPM is also responsible for the keeping of the licensed commercial kitchen in full compliance of Environmental Health Standards.

 

General BGCY

  • Ensures that BGCY program standards, guidelines and policies are followed, and that programs align to BGCY’s Mission, Vision, Values and strategic direction;
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of program development and delivery, as per BGCY policy and procedure;
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and training sessions;
  • Keeps informed and has a general awareness of all BGCY programs and services, including usage of communication tools such as email and internet/webpage, etc.
  • Will be the senior staff member responsible for planning and implementation of meals, oversight, in conjunction with the EYPD, of all centre staff, oversight of all program plans, and point of contact for outside resources.
  • Coordinates Early Years appropriate programming, ensuring that the social/recreational needs of both age groups are met, in relation to the goals of the program;
  • Assigned a program budget, the Program Manager is responsible for keeping track of expenditures and operating within budget guidelines;
  • Records, compiles and submits regular accurate program records, statistics, health and safety reports, and other records as requested by the Program Director.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Learning Tree Centre program;
  • Ensure participants engage in appropriate programming and activities as per the goals of the program;
  • Work as part of a team to foster an atmosphere that promotes healthy lifestyles, self-esteem, teamwork through fun, safe, and challenging activities, while being a positive adult role model;
  • Ensure site safety, cleanliness, and security, including the proper opening and lock up of all facilities, set-up and dismantling of all program areas, general maintenance duties, and ensuring proper care for all vehicles and equipment;
  • Ensure client safety by adhering to all BGCY emergency policy and procedures and conducting regular staff, participant and site safety exercises.
  • Act as a liaison with various community partners in an effort to engage participants from all social and economic backgrounds, and to achieve the goals of the Learning Tree Centre program.
  • Keeps informed and up to date with names of key community volunteers and, in consultation with the Early Years Program Director, works to further the interests of the BGC movement through active participation in community activities;
  • Assist in office reception, including greeting, answering telephones and providing general information.

Program Development and Reporting

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector);
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate;
  • Valid Foodsafe Level 1 Certificate (must be attained within first 3 months of work);
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation (class 4 driver’s licence is an asset);
  • ELCC level 3 designation, though a lower level (1-2A) combined with extensive experience in childcare may be considered.
  • Two years of experience developing and facilitating programs for children in a social, recreational or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to problem solve and find resolutions to issues/conflict;
  • Excellent oral, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Proven time management skills;
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications;
  • An educational background in social services, child and youth care, or equivalent is an asset.
