Business Systems Analyst

What you will do

The Information, Data and Analytics Services (IDAS) group supports the Bank’s research, analysis and decision-making through innovative and responsive analytics and information management, built on efficient and user-focused technical platforms and tools.

Specifically, you will provide business and systems analysis, software testing and application support on projects, enhancements and operations related to its information systems. You will collaborate with business partners and colleagues to identify user requirements, perform business process and systems analysis activities, contribute to the development, enhancement and support of the Bank’s Regulatory Reporting systems.

In addition, you will:

  • provide helpline services to internal and external clients; e.g. financial institutions
  • develop regulatory return templates used for reporting financial data and create associated validation rules
  • support and troubleshoot external filers with issues and resolve “how-to” questions
  • conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) on deployment of releases
  • build test cases and perform functional testing on upgrade of tools and components used in the Regulatory Reporting systems.
  • support and assist the managing and collection of chartered bank data and regulatory filings
  • maintain collaborative relations with internal clients and external counterparts to support operational objectives

What you need to succeed

You are an effective communicator who can assess and write business impact analysis based on client needs and requirements, You have excellent interpersonal skills, and work well independently and in a team environment. You have effective problem-solving skills to work by solving system issues and questions, gathering information, resolving discrepancies in information, discerning relevant data and making sound decisions when giving advice or making recommendations. You have the planning and organizational skills required to plan, set priorities and monitor tasks and initiatives. You ensure follow-through, and deliver quality work outputs on time. You also have a good understanding of the fundamentals of computer systems, IT methodology used in client server environments and the system development life cycle.

Your education and experience

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.

Hybrid Work Model 

The Bank is conducting a trial of a hybrid working model which provides employees with the flexibility to telework for significant portions of each month. During the trial, employees will only be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. For the majority of employees, it is expected that onsite time will range from 5 to 10 days per month, depending on your role. You are expected to live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $64,705 to $76,125 (job grade 14)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (5 to 7% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (10% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
