The Global Merchant Services (GMS) Pricing team is responsible for the pricing of the single largest source of American Express’ revenue, Merchant Discount Revenue. The team leverages Merchant Pricing to promote acceptance and grow coverage, to increase merchant satisfaction, drive GMS revenue and profit growth.

The Manager – LAC and Canada (LACC) and International is responsible for developing important pricing initiatives aimed at preserving our merchant discount rate while balancing the organization’s goal for profitable charge volume and merchant expansion.

The Manager will also be responsible for the development, execution and implementation of critical strategies and programs. This will include leading workstreams aimed at aligning our International Pricing policies and processes.

The successful candidate will report to the Vice President of Merchant Pricing – LAC and Canada (LACC)

Job Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of LACC and International Pricing initiatives to ensure our merchant pricing is aligned with the value we provide and to deliver financial benefits to GMS and to the Blue Box
  • Lead workstreams aimed at aligning our International Pricing policies and processes
  • Supporting activities, including contract renegotiations and new signings, across the LAC and Canada regions. Contribute to ongoing partnerships with merchants by exhibiting knowledge of industry and merchant-specific opportunities and challenges
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of an infrastructure that identifies opportunities for sharing best business practices, streamlines implementation of contract/payment terms, and other internal processes
  • Managing discount rate planning, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Drive pricing integrity and accuracy in merchant agreements; work closely with CLM and Operations to ensure all pricing terms are properly captured in internal platforms
  • Excellent strategic thought leadership and comfort working with unstructured problems; strong problem-solver;
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in building and maintaining internal and external partnerships; strong relationship management, influence-management
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Superior communication skills – oral and written
  • MBA and merchant customer interaction experience preferred
