Your Role

1QBit is looking for an expert in quantum algorithms to work on theoretical and experimental aspects of emerging quantum devices. Our Hardware Innovation Lab (HIL) team is interested to hear from high caliber scientists who are excited to contribute to the various layers of the full stack of quantum computing. HIL collaborates with its hardware partners, employing its expertise in classical and quantum computing to develop technologies that will enable scalable and applicable quantum computing.

What You’ll Do

  • Work alongside peers with unique and creative backgrounds in physics, computer science, mathematics and engineering
  • Constantly learn through your work as well as active engagement with the academic community
  • Present to and learn from collaborators
  • Design and analyze quantum algorithms
  • Design and implement numerical and lab experiments
  • Perform simulations and benchmarking
  • Take part in generating reports, drafting patents, authoring publications, and attending conferences


What You’ll Bring

Members of our team bring a confluence of personality, skills, and intent that contributes to their individual development and our collective growth as an organization. The knowledge and mindset you will bring to our team include the following:

  • PhD in computer science, physics, or mathematics (or equivalent training)
  • Strong background in quantum algorithms (e.g., phase estimation, amplitude amplification, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of quantum information theory and quantum information processing
  • Basic understanding of computational complexity
  • High level understanding of circuit optimization and circuit compilation
  • Research experience in the design, optimization or resource analysis of quantum algorithms
  • Basic understanding of fault-tolerant quantum computing (e.g. quantum error correction, magic state distillation), NISQ algorithms, and error migration are nice to have
  • A strong research track record in quantum computing, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and top-tier conference presentations
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C/C++)
  • Ability to work well with others towards a common goal
  • Research independence: the ability to take responsibility and initiative to conduct your research as it is required in working towards the common goal
